What you can study at Homewood Sixth Form

Your Course Options

During the most recent Ofsted inspection our Curriculum was described as the jewel in the crown of the school, we hope that you will be similarly impressed by the vast variety of choices that we offer. We pride ourselves on the breadth of opportunities that are available to our Sixth Form students.

A Levels

Over 25 Courses Available

Homewood Sixth Form Centre offers the widest range of A Level courses in central Kent and has an excellent track record of exam success and student progression. In 2017, Homewood students achieved 100% pass rate in over 34 A Level subjects and 96% of students were accepted by either their 1st or 2nd choice universities.

Level 3

Alternative to Traditional A Levels

Our Level 3 courses offer a wide range of work-related & vocational qualifications. Many have been designed in collaboration with industry and equip you with the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for, using a mixture of theoretical and practical activities. Don't forget: You can combine many of these qualifications with the IBCP diploma courses to benefit from this route of study.

Level 2

GCSEs & Equivalents

These one year courses offer a pathway for students who wish to progress onto a Level 3 or A Level qualification or onto employment. We offer a mix of GCSE and vocational courses which allow you to choose qualifications that suit your learning style.

Which Course and Entry Requirements

When selecting your courses, first identify the likely pathway in the table which best suits your projected GCSE grades. You will be able to find a wide range of suitable courses at whatever level you wish to progress onto and in whatever field you aspire to study and eventually to work. Students can follow a route to suit their individual needs in studying an A Level based, vocational or combined pathway. Expert advice is on hand to support students in making the right choices and to guide their next steps in whatever direction these might take; to University, into further training or towards a career.
Entry to Homewood 6th Form is based on meeting the individual grade requirements for the courses you wish to study and is dependent on you selecting a programme that allows for progression and that suits your profile of achievement. Our subjects are arranged into 4 option blocks in which you may only select one course. These blocks will be available at our Open Evening and it is advisable to consider more than 3 possible course choices to give you the most flexibility. Please note, if you do not achieve a C Grade or above in GCSE English and Maths you will also need to study these subjects at Homewood 6th Form.

UCAS Point comparison

All 3 qualification routes attract UCAS points, which are the entry tariff into universities. Universities accept all routes. The table below compares the number of UCAS points that each grade attracts in the 3 routes. It is worth noting that if students take at least 2 IB subject qualifications and 1 BTEC or other applied qualification they qualify for the International Baccalaureate Career Related Programme (IBCP), which carries up to an additional 12 UCAS points.
