English Literature A LEVEL Course

English Literature A LEVEL Course. Duration: 2 Years

Course Content

This course involves studying a range of heritage and contemporary texts from the English literary canon.
The two-year A Level course is comprised of three elements assessed over two written exams and one independent coursework project: Aspects of Tragedy; Elements of Crime Writing or Elements of Political Writing and Theory and Independence.
This course is one of the newly reformed A Levels. You will be examined at the end of the first year and anyone leaving the course at that point will get an AS Level qualification. To achieve the full A Level you will need to take all of the assessed units together at the end of the second year of the course, including topics covered in Year 12.

Further Opportunities

This course could complement other Advanced Level courses or lead onto Higher Education in English Literature Studies, or other Higher Education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to English Literature Studies, such as a teacher, journalist or author.
You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers look for.
