Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre is located in the picturesque "Cinque Port" Tenterden, Kent.
With its pinnacled tower of St Mildred's Church keeping guard over its excellent High Street, historic houses, shops, restaurants and pubs separated from the carriageway by wide expanses of tree-lined grass verge, Tenterden must rank amongst the most attractive in the country! The town is well equipped for the 21st century also, with modern amenities, varied and interesting shopping, great places to stay, fascinating museums and visitor attractions and events for all the family.
Visitors to the school usually travel by train to either Ashford International station or Headcorn station. (Ashford International Station is only 12.3 miles away, providing connections to London and Europe). Buses and taxis can be used to complete the journey.
The M20 is the main motorway through Kent providing easy access to Tenterden from Junction 9 via the A28.
Kent County Council provides the 16+ Travel Card for all students. Homewood is pleased to offer a subsidy of £50 to all Post 16 students to help with the cost of travel. The cost of the Travel Card is yet to be confirmed for next year, but in 2016 this was £400 with our contribution reducing the overall cost to £350.
The card will allow the holder unlimited bus travel in Kent (and on direct bus services crossing the county boundary e.g. to Medway and East Sussex) at any time including evenings, weekends and holidays. To find out if you are eligible for a Kent 16+ Travel Card and for further information, go to www.kent.gov.uk/16plustravelcard.
We advise you to check directly with your coach company that they accept the travel card and in areas where it is necessary to travel on a KCC private hire minibus you will need to apply directly to KCC.
