Art Fine Art
Duration: 2 year, although a one-year AS course can be organised by prior arrangement
Contact: Miss J Rickard
5 GCSEs or equivalent grades at 4 and above including a 4 in an art subject
AS: You will cover a full range of art techniques using a variety of materials and developing your ideas creatively. Learning through the investigation of artists and researching extensively will result in the development of an individual approach and style. You will create one coursework project and a practical exam project project. Final art pieces are produced on an individual basis. Developmental work and the ability to annotate the progressive stages of the work will be essential. The final exam consists of preparation work and a final piece(s) created in ten hours under exam conditions.
A2: The second year of the course is a natural progression into a detailed body of coursework that continues to link art in context, explore materials and techniques and develop your own creative ideas.
A personal investigation (1000 to 3000 words) will allow for an in-depth study into the contextualisation of your project. The final exam project consists of preparation work and a final piece(s) created in 15 hours under exam conditions.
You could take this course to complement other Advanced Level art courses. This could lead onto Higher Education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general subjects. With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior Designer, Artist or Fashion Designer.
