5 GCSE grades at 4 or above, including GCSE Graphics at grade 4 or above.
AS: This course focuses on developing and exploring ideas whilst using graphics materials and techniques to refine ideas in the form of a coursework project and practical exam project, with a final piece/s being created over a duration of 10 hours in exam conditions. An independent attitude to study is essential as well as the ability to think creatively and see a project through from initial ideas to final realisation.
A2: The A2 year is a natural progression from the AS Graphics course, with continued development of creative ideas.
A wide range of Graphics materials and techniques will be developed further, as a result of the creation of a personal investigation (1000 to 3000 words), which will allow for an in-depth study into the contextualisation of your project. The final exam project consists of preparation work and a final piece/s created in 15 hours under exam conditions.
You could take this course to complement other Advanced Level courses, such as Fine Art, Photography, Textiles or Ceramics, or to prepare for the A2 part of Graphics, which could lead onto Higher Education courses. With further training, you could go into employment related to art and design such as a graphic designer, illustrator, advertising or animator.
You could also go straight into employment, as these are recognised qualifications that will encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for. This course would also work well being studied alongside Photography, Textiles, Ceramics or Fine Art.
In 2018, 93% of students went to their first or second choice university.
