No formal entry qualifications are required for Level 2 courses.
This one-year GCSE course consists of two units. In Unit 1 you will learn about the leisure and tourism industry. You will explore the different types of leisure and tourism organisations in the UK, gain an understanding of the various employment opportunities available, be introduced to the business operations side of the industry and examine the impact that tourism has on communities and environments. In Unit 2 you will learn about sales, marketing and technology in the leisure and tourism industry.
Both units are assessed as 60% coursework and 40% examination. You will be able to complete two units in a year which means that all the assessment is based on work you’ve carried out recently.
If you enjoy learning about the leisure and tourism industry and how it contributes to society and the economy, understanding the issues affecting the sustainability and development of leisure and tourism, exploring the functions of sales and marketing and developing an appreciation of the similarities and differences of attitudes and cultures in society then this GCSE in Leisure and Tourism course is the subject for you.
After completing the GCSE Leisure and Tourism course you can progress into many different areas of study such as a BTEC National qualification in Travel and Tourism.
