Music National Extended Diploma
Duration: 2 Years
Contact: Mrs E. Benedict
Students must have achieved a Grade 4 at English GCSE and if you have not taken GCSE music, you will need to audition prior to being accepted onto the course as you will be required to perform regularly as part of the assessment process.
This is an excellent qualification for anyone who plays an instrument or sings to a good standard. You will learn how to perform in an ensemble, perform as a soloist, about working in the music industry and how to harmonise and arrange music using written notation.
Work is both internally and externally examined and you will complete a variety of tasks, both practical and written, which will be marked by both your tutors and the exam board.
You will cover four units over the two year course.
The course is accepted by universities for degrees in music, music performance, music events management or music production. Many students who have taken BTECs in music have secured places at good universities such as the Academy of Contemporary Music, the BIMM Institute and the Universities of Huddersfield and Leeds. Other students have secured apprenticeships.
In 2018, 93% of students went to their first or second choice university.
A Level Pass Rate
In 2018, Homewood's Year 13 students achieved 100% pass rate in over 42 A-level and Level 3 courses.
