Course Content

At Homewood we follow the Edexcel A level course in Religion, Philosophy and Ethics. This course studies the philosophy of religion, religious ethics and the New Testament. The course is assessed entirely by external examination, with three exams each year. The exams are a mix of short answer and essay questions.

Topics investigated include evil, miracles, religious language, sexual ethics, war and peace, arguments for and against the existence of God, utilitarianism and deontology, the person of Jesus, the works of scholars, social and historical context of the New Testament, scientific responses to belief and the importance of authorship.

To achieve this A Level qualification you will take all of the assessed units together at the end of the second year of the course.
