No formal entry qualifications are required for Level 2 courses.
During this one-year GCSE course, you will study a range of traditional and contemporary artists/photographers relevant to a chosen theme. Theme-based photography may include Portraiture, Landscape, Still-Life, Photo-Journalism, Film and Stop Motion. From your completed work at least two units will be chosen to enter the exam process. Drawing activities and annotations about the work are compulsory. Layout and presentation are considered important alongside written analysis of images, your own thinking and personal response. The final exam unit will consist of one unit of work from a chosen starting point. You will be allowed a few weeks to prepare and will then create a final piece whilst working in a Photography room, for ten hours, under exam conditions.
Future potential in this subject is very broad. Every real image, product, promotional material and media work have involved a Photographer somewhere in the process. Photographers all follow an Art and Design route in Further Education and Higher Education.
In 2018, 93% of students went to their first or second choice university.
